Re-establishing.

Oh hi!

I've had something shift in me over the past few weeks...I've been looking to get back to some lost loves. Namely- music that was made before I was born. Namely namely- 60s and 70s singer/songwriter-country-folk-rock. Right now, that seems to mean one thing, and one thing only- Gram Parsons.

My love affair with Gram Parsons started in my early 20s, though for whatever reason (okay, because no one around me was into him, and I used to get swayed by the in crowd more than I care to admit) he's been in a dark corner of my musical closet for almost a decade now.

No more!

"A Song For You" with beautiful Emmylou!

Related: At the record store today, there was an exceptionally attentive clerk circling like a little shark as I went through albums. Maybe it's just all the years of second hand shopping, knowing you have to look at EVERYTHING so you don't miss the hidden gems, but I think he thought it was weird (or maybe suspicious?) that I was flipping through EACH TITLE. After he asked me for the 6th or 7th time if I'd like to put my stack of records downstairs, I grabbed what I THOUGHT was "Close Up The Honky Tonk" (Flying Burrito Brothers- more Gram) and instead threw "Last of the Red Hot Burritos" (no more Gram) into the mix. I didn't realize until I got home. BOO.

So now you know the truth- you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl.

More in this vein in the months to come.
Music is an excellent distractor, and however many hours I may idle away in the pursuit of new tunes, I never feel like my life is being sucked away by the time vampire that is (insert social networking site here).

Baking FAIL (plus demon cheese!)

This is what happens when you try and tip the quick bread out of the pan immediately after removal from the oven.

Satan loves the Swiss!

More pre-snow Spring goodness!

A beautiful evening for a BBQ!

Afternoon project

If you're feeling blue, make lace-trimmed pantaloons!

Because grey sweatpants just don't say "summer mornings".

iSpring

When all else fails, there's always iPhone!

Spring

I actually took these before the snow hit, around the end of April. It's been beautiful here since then- +25- our cherry tree is in full bloom, the tulips have tulipped, and the peonies are well on their way! The camera is never charged (batteries seem to be lasting about 30 seconds in it these days) so I haven't been able to document our BEAUTIFUL, full, pink cherry tree. Sakura at the end of May! It's been rainy for the last few days, which we need; however, it has also destroyed most of the pink fluffy blossoms. Ah well, good for the plants, and for the Thorhild brush fire- WHICH WAS CAUSED BY ATV USERS APPARENTLY. Shocking.

Anyhoo.
